As 2024 comes to a close, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your support of the Cure Cancer Foundation (CCF). This year has been extraordinary, with our incredible donors, volunteers, and community raising over $2.8 million to support CCF priorities. Your contributions made it all possible.

Below are some highlights from an amazing year.

In January, we held the inaugural World’s Longest Hockey Game Jr's., where 78 kids aged 12-16 on Team Hope and Team Cure played for 72 hours straight, raising $308,200.75 to support childhood cancer clinical trials at the University of Alberta.

Brian Anstice, a dedicated Toast of the Town board member, received the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal. Despite his own battle with Multiple Myeloma,, Brian has been a huge figure in the cancer fundraising community.

The 2024 Toast of the Town, which honoured Cal Nichols, raised $405,000 tohelp fund two new CAR T-cell immunotherapy labs at the Cross Cancer Institute, which will drastically bring down the cost of this groundbreaking cancer treatment.

This August, the 39th Glenn Anderson Day of Golf raised a record-breaking $1.8 million, supporting the purchase of an MR-Sim and supporting CAR T-cell immunotherapy research.

This amazing result was aided significantly by the leadership of the McNeill family and the Stream-Flo Group.

In September, 56 players came together to set a Guinness World Record for the longest baseball game. The event raised $313,255.03 to help purchase and install an MR-Sim at the Cross Cancer Institute.

CCF board member Dr. Brent Saik and the Alberta Sports Vision Institute won the 2024 Community Attraction Award from the Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce. The team was bestowed this award in November for the work put into the World’s Longest Games.

Brian Anstice and Barrie Stafford, Toast of the Town Board members, visited the Cross Cancer Institute to deliver over 100 hoodies as a gift to the incredible chemo nurses and blood cancer oncologists. Their visit brought holiday cheer to the team.
