On August 7, 2025, the 40th annual Glenn Anderson Day of Golf announced an incredible fundraising total of $927,555 in support of advancing CAR T-cell immunotherapy at the Cross Cancer Institute.
“Reaching our 40th year is a truly special milestone for the Glenn Anderson Day of Golf,” said committee chair Michelle Rose. “Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our volunteers, the hard work of our committee, and the support of our community, we have raised nearly $21 million for cancer research, treatment, and care over the past four decades. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.”

Bringing Life-Saving Treatment Home
Right now, CAR T-cell immunotherapy is one of the most promising cancer treatments available, but it requires Alberta patients to have their cells sent out of province for processing. It’s costly, slow, and limits access.
We aim to raise $2.5 million by fall 2026 to purchase the specialized equipment needed to manufacture CAR T-cells right here at the Cross Cancer Institute. This includes:
+ 4 CliniMACS Prodigy units to manufacture CAR T-cells for treatment and research
+ MACSQuant Analyzer for quality control and analysis of the modified cells
+ QuantStudio 12K Flex for working with DNA and building cell therapies
+ xCELLigence eSight Platform to test multiple treatment prototypes simultaneously, speeding up research and saving lives
With this technology, scientists and clinicians will be able to create personalized cancer-fighting immune cells locally—faster, safer, and at a fraction of the current cost.
