As we cheer on the Edmonton Oilers, there’s another way you can help make a difference—by getting in on the Oilers 50/50 draw.

A portion of the raised proceeds from the 50/50 will support the Alberta Cancer Foundation (ACF) and will help to fund innovative immunotherapy research—a top priority for the Cure Cancer Foundation.

Proceeds will contribute to the ACF’s commitment to funding a new CAR T-cell immunotherapy lab at the Cross Cancer Institute. 

50/50 tickets purchased until November 25 will support this initiative. This multi-day raffle will support our partner, the Alberta Cancer Foundation and the Terry Fox Foundation.

Immunotherapy is a new way of attacking cancer that is different than chemotherapy and radiation. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy takes the patient’s T-cells and genetically manipulates them to add chimeric antigen receptors onto them. This acts as a new barcode reader, helping the T-cell recognize cancer and activating the T-cell. Once the immune system can identify cancer cells again, the host has a better chance of fighting the disease.

About Terry
Terry, born in Brooks and raised in Camrose, grew up with strong community values inspired by his parents’ generosity. His volunteer journey began in 1974 coaching young swimmers, sparking a lifelong commitment to service and giving back. Professionally, he entered the industrial sector in 1980, later co-founding Prism Flow Products in 1995, which grew into a respected international valve company. Now in his 46th year in the industry, Terry is recognized as a leader and mentor. Personal experiences with cancer and loss have deepened his empathy and resilience, shaping his outlook on life and work. Grounded in hard work, integrity, and community service, Terry’s impact extends far beyond business to the many lives he has touched.

The 2026 Toast of the Town will take place on April 18, 2026.
